Our Services
Annual Audit, Annual Accountancy and Management Accounts
Every business has a statutory obligation to produce accounts annually for the relevant authorities - Inland Revenue and Companies House.
Every accountant will offer to help you with this. We like to think we go a step further.
We offer a unique service guarantee. We will also take the time to explain your accounts to you so that you understand what is going on financially within your business, helping you to plan for the future.
What is more, we recognise that some businesses will require accounts to be prepared on a monthly or quarterly basis.
This may, for example, be for the purposes of providing information to your bank to support a borrowing facility or perhaps you want to know what is going on in your business sooner than waiting for your year end accounts to help your business respond faster and to help you manage the business.
We can produce management information in various ways and styles, perhaps just looking for the underlying drivers that run the business.
Services include:
Bookkeeping, preparation of management accounts, preparation of financial statements and audits.
Tax
Everyone has to pay tax, so why not make the most of it? At fft, we specialise in providing tax guidance with a commitment to making it work for you. Our specialist advisors will implement bespoke tax strategies to boost your savings and minimise the shortfalls.
TAX COMPLIANCE WORK
We offer the usual tax compliance services that businesses have a statutory obligation to complete.
We deal with the Inland Revenue on your behalf, taking the worry away from you. This work covers some of the following:
- Self-Assessment Tax Returns - Individuals, Partnerships and Limited Companies.
- Tax Computations
- Liaising with the tax authorities
- VAT Returns
- End of Year PAYE Returns -P35, P60's, P11D'S
Whilst these jobs are important, all accountants should be capable of completing them. We are more interested in maximizing your tax planning opportunities.
TAX PLANNING
We all have to pay our taxes but within the legal framework there are numerous ways of saving tax and making sure you do not pay a penny more than is absolutely necessary.
We have extensive experience in this area of work and always fight as hard as we can for our clients.
We have invested heavily in specialist software that gives us access to all the Tax Legislation, to Tax Cases going back over 100 years, to the internal manuals of the Inland Revenue and to detailed commentary on all taxes, direct and indirect. This is fully searchable software that allows us to find anything we need on any tax topic at all at a push of a button, to help us come up with many ways of helping you legally save tax.
Studies have shown that only occasionally on meeting new clients is it found that everything necessary is being done to minimize their tax bills. Many clients have had tax savings identified of several thousands of pounds that are not one off savings but that recur every year. We are always willing to offer advice on the areas where tax can be saved. We enjoy this work!
All of our Tax Planning makes legitimate use of the Tax Legislation and Case Law, so that you are not put at risk from a full Inland Revenue Enquiry.
As well as the day-to-day taxes it is important to plan for those taxes further down the line such as Capital Gains Tax or Inheritance Tax
Tax Planning can include any of the following areas:
- Business Tax, Employee Tax & Personal Tax
- Limited Company Tax - including what is the best way to take money out of your Limited Company
- Benefits In Kind
- Investments, Loans & Property
- VAT
We also offer a Tax Projector FREE of charge to all clients, which is a simple little tool for estimating your tax bills as you go along during the year so that you can put the money aside for when the dreaded day comes.
TAX INVESTIGATIONS / ENQUIRIES
It is an unfortunate fact of business life that you may well come under enquiry by the Inland Revenue or Customs & Excise through no fault of your own. The Inland Revenue now investigates businesses at random as well as for specific reasons.
If you are selected at random, you need an accountant who knows how the Inland Revenue works and thinks and is prepared to fight your case and make sure that the Revenue keep to their own internal guidelines.
In our opinion, a no nonsense approach often works best.
We will talk you through the enquiry process and what to expect and support you throughout.
There are various penalties the Revenue can seek to impose following an enquiry for undeclared income.
As well as having to pay the tax, you can find the Revenue seeking penalties of up to an amount equal to the tax, so doubling your tax bill as well as asking for interest on the late payment of the tax - not a pleasant experience.
If this happens to you, we will show you how to minimize any penalties.
Anti-investigation scanning checks
Whilst with the introduction of random investigations, anyone can come under investigation; you can help to avoid the chance of an investigation into your affairs for other reasons.
Every Tax Return or set of accounts we submit to the Revenue goes through an anti-investigation scanning check to identify any areas that may lead to an enquiry before they are submitted without explanation.
This really does help to minimize the chances of you being on the wrong end of a full enquiry.
With fft you won’t get your fingers burnt.
